Frenchman's Cove

Frenchman's Cove is in the South King Street premises which once housed Duckworth's Tobacco warehouse. Reports from owner Billy Johnson have included that workmen building in the cellar have thought that someone or something have been watching them. Billy got sent an article and photograph from the time the warehouse was built, this revealed that the ghost in question came from Scarborough and was called Laura Schoons. It can only be assumed that like today many people need to raise extra funds to service the cost of living. And was born the guest house. At first though as like today rooms would of been let as a permanent bases, and in the very first few years just offers their guests room only. Later on realizing that some guests only wanted a few days by the sea and so then offered bed and breakfast on a short term let. In 1735 The very first of guest houses in Blackpool was owned by Ethart a' Whiteside. Which year on year grew the tourism of today. What at first attracted tourism was green fields and the sea. In the 19th century Blackpool grew rapidly with the industrial revolution. 11th July 1878 was the opening of Winter Gardens in Backpool
